How to get drink of water in the desert

You will need a cup, some plastic sheeting and a pebble.

First, dig a hole. Even in the desert, there will be some moisture in the sand.

But if you have any dirty water left from washing, tip it in the hole.

Put the cup at the centre of the hole.

Cover the hole with a plastic sheet.

Place the pebble in the centre, above the cup, so that the plastic dips down in the middle.

Leave it in the sun for a few hours!

The heat from the sun evaporates any water in the sand. Some of this condenses on the...

...plastic sheet, runs down the side of the sheet and drops into the cup.

The water is pure and distilled, so safe to drink!
