Message: I Have Come That You May Have LIFE! March 31, 2013

Two Questions 1.Why do we even need new life? Because although we are born alive physically, we are dead spiritually. 2.Why are we spiritually dead? Sin. As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins. Eph. 2:1

Easter Truths About Jesus 1.Jesus willingly gave his life for the sheep – He was a willing sacrifice. V11- The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. V15 - I lay down my life for the sheep V17 - The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life

Easter Truths About Jesus 2.No one took life from Jesus as if he was trying to preserve it. V18 - No one takes it [life] from me, but I lay it down of my own accord.

Easter Truths About Jesus 3.Jesus had the power and authority to sacrifice his life and to raise it up again. V18 - I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.

Easter Truths About Jesus 4.Jesus came to give LIFE to humanity. V10 - The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Declarations of New Life 1.Jesus does not offer new life as patchwork just to fill the holes of our life. V21- No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse.

Declarations of New Life 2.Jesus does not offer new life as an additive to your existing life. V22 - And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined.

Declarations of New Life 3.Jesus was born, lived, suffered, died and rose again – to make your life NEW! V22 - No, he pours new wine into new wineskins.

Your Response  Have you tried Jesus as a patch work fix?  Have you tried Jesus as a religious additive to your current life?  That’s Not What He Offers!  Jesus offers You New Life!
