"New In Christ" Phil. 3:8-11

"New In Christ" 1.New Values In Christ - Gaining Christ 2.New Identity in Christ - Being found in Christ 3.New Life in Christ – Knowing Christ

Philippians 3:8-11 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

1. New Values In Christ - Gaining Christ Philippians 3:8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ...

1. New Values In Christ - Gaining Christ

1 Corinthians 1:30-31 And because of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

1. New Values In Christ - Gaining Christ Philippians 3:8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ... Do we recognize the infinite value of Jesus?

1. New Values In Christ - Gaining Christ Do we share the same new values as Paul? Do we know and have we experience the great worth of Jesus? OR do we only have empty religion or academic concept of Jesus? Are we distracted by chasing many other things that we think are more valuable than Jesus?

2. New Identity in Christ - Being found in Christ Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith...

2. New Identity in Christ - Being found in Christ Righteousness: "Characterized by, proceeding from, or in accordance with accepted standards of morality, justice, virtues, or uprightness." - Dictionary.com

2. New Identity in Christ - Being found in Christ Righteousness of God: "A standard set forth by God in accordance to His characters of perfection, integrity, love, and purity."

2. New Identity in Christ - Being found in Christ Relativistic Hedonism Irreligious Follow your heart Don't bother Pride/Emptiness Lax Worldliness No joy or power Moralistic Legalism Religious Follow the rules Try harder Pride/Guilt Strict worldliness No joy or power

2. New Identity in Christ - Being found in Christ Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith...

2. New Identity in Christ - Being found in Christ

Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith... This is an amazing gift of God’s grace and mercy! We need to surrender our self-centered pride first. God will give us a new righteous identity in Christ!

3. New Life in Christ – Knowing Christ Philippians 3:10-11 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. We are called to know Christ personally, experientially, practically, and intimately, NOT conceptually!

3. New Life in Christ – Knowing Christ Philippians 3:10-11 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Do we know that we have the resurrection power of Jesus to overcome sin and death?

3. New Life in Christ – Knowing Christ Philippians 3:10-11 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Crucifixion Death brings Resurrection Life! We share in Christ's suffering by suffering FOR Him and Suffering LIKE Him in total surrender and trust to God.

"New In Christ" 1.New Values In Christ - Gaining Christ 2.New Identity in Christ - Being found in Christ 3.New Life in Christ – Knowing Christ Do you have the desire to gain Christ, the ultimate Treasure in life, to be found in Him with His righteousness, and to know Christ in His resurrection power?

"New In Christ" Ask God to show you if there is anything that in hindering you from coming to Him and experiencing His all surpassing worth? Surrender them, count it all as loss and embrace Jesus. You will have the greatest treasure for life in Jesus.

"New In Christ" Ask God to help you search your heart to see if you are still depending on your own hard work and righteousness to earn a good standing before God? Surrender that to Him, and trust in what Christ have done for you alone and receive that righteous standing with a grateful heart. You are accepted by God always because of Jesus.

"New In Christ" Ask God to help you draw near to Jesus to know Him personally, practically, and powerfully. Ask in faith to experience His resurrection power in living out a new life, and be willing to suffer with Him in order to die to those things that are hindering you from growing closer to Him and mature in Him.
