Presentation by Department of Youth  Seite 2 The youth situation in Kosovo  Republic of Kosovo is a country with a very young population, which promises a brighter future for the new state of Kosovo.  More than 50% of the population in Kosovo are under the age of 30 (the youngest population in Europe). 25% of the population is 15 to 24 years of age and they are mainly concentrated in the capital.  The concept of YOUTH implies the age of 15 – 24 and was adopted according to the UN definition on the youth.  The youth situation in Kosovo as of 1999 involved an unsatisfactory level of participation in public life and a low level of education, a high rate of unemployment, lack of health services, an unsatisfactory situation with regard to human safety and a lack of areas for cultural, sport and leisure activities.  Main concerns in the domestic arena involve participation, education and employment, whereas integration into the EU is the main concern in the international arena!!??
