Title goes here PowerPoint presentations can be effective tools for communicating messages to a variety of audiences. The most memorable presentations are those that have a lasting impact because of a number of factors, including content, design and delivery.

Creating presentations Plan carefully Do your research Know your audience Time and practice your presentation Avoid reading the slides The slides not be the main focal point - think delivery!

Effective slides Standardize position, colours and styles – use design templates Include only necessary information Limit the information to essentials Use colours that contrast Use colours that are consistent with effects, transitions and animation

Focus on powerful content

Text guidelines Generally no more than six words on each line Generally no more than six lines on a slide Avoid long sentences Larger font indicates more important information Font size generally ranges from 18 to 48 point

Text guidelines Be sure text contrasts with background Use OSN fonts - fancy fonts can be hard to read Use upper and lower case and avoid all capital letters, which is difficult to read Avoid abbreviations and acronyms Limit punctuation marks

Graphics Should balance the slide Should enhance and complement the text, not overwhelm it No more than two graphics per slide
