Aim: How are forgeries identified? Do Now: Get a Textbook and Take it to Your Desk

 The most common forgery is a signature What are some other things that are commonly forged?

1. Blind Forgery  Made without a model  Forger uses his own handwriting and does not even try to copy the original  Easiest forgery to detect

2. Simulated Forgery  One made by copying a genuine signature by carefully drawing it  Forger practice many times before attempting  Very difficult to link to suspect

3. Traced Forgery  One made by tracing a genuine signature  Carbon paper, light box, or even pressing hard over an original  Stereomicroscope will reveal that Line quality may be inconsistent

 Writing in which the slant of the letters is to the left of the vertical

Title: Ivan the Terrible Who: John Demjanjuk, suspect, & their relationship any other key players (witnesses, lawyers, experts) When/ Where: Year, geographic location (ex: San Diego, CA) Physical location/ time of day Evidence: Forensic evidence/ witness testimony How did the suspect become a suspect?
