Michelangelo Italian Artist

Michelangelo is considered an artistic genius. He was a painter, sculptor and architect. The Pieta was carved in marble when he was 25.

Michelangelo carved the David out of a single piece of marble 18 feet tall. Because of its size and form it is considered one of the most impressive sculptures of all time. Michelangelo carved it at the same time as the Pieta.

Michelangelo carved Moses shortly after the Pieta. He was a master of sculpture. It was his favorite art form.
