Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them

on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them. 17 Then the Lord’s anger will burn against you, and he will shut up the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land the Lord is giving you. 18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your

foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.

Seek His Face, Hear His Voice, Obey His Word Challenge of educating our children Some parents grow tremendously frustrated Uncertain of what to do in challenging times Vigilant to protect integrity of our families What are some specifics we should be focused on when it comes to educating our children?

Primary place kids should be educated is in our home Educating in commands, ways, & works of the Lord Multi-generational, one-on-one, life-on-life Ps 78:5-7 All education is not required to fall on parents 1 Chron 25:8 Parents should protect children Gen 2:16 Walking into the battle unarmed Kids will default to worldliness What am I doing to set aside time to educate kids?

Drilled into our heads public school is best Confident can provide superior education at home Feel inadequate to teach, turn to private school How is a parent to choose? What do you have faith for?

Can send child to private school but not can’t send responsibility Be well informed about what child is learning How well they are learning it How well does school work to inform parents? Ask detailed questions about bible curriculum Need to stay closely involved

Child educated by the government Hard work to find what they are hearing as “normal” Usually have many generations to educate our kids Will be a battle that has to be fought continually Protect kids from being indoctrinated and inculturated by a worldly mindset Can become a great platform to shine Matt 5:14 Grows them, in situations where they need to stand

Parents taking the primary role of instruction Great measure of control of what to teach Benefit of not only walking with peer group Can be limited with only one teacher Danger if parents neglect the opportunity

Evaluate which criteria you believe is most important for your family Evaluate your own resources, sacrifices you can make, options you have access to Not a one-time decision God does not have one giant solution for everyone, it’s unique, need to hear His wisdom! What do you have faith for? But we are all called to be HOME EDUCATORS!
