The Lordship Of Christ Acts 2:36

Jesus Is Our Savior Jesus is identified as the one who saves Jesus came to “to seek and to save that which was lost” (Lk. 19:10) Our salvation is made possible by “our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:11) John wrote, “We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world” (1 Jn. 4:14) Salvation from sin is what it’s about However, salvation cannot be separated from obedience (Phil. 2:12)

Jesus Is Our King Christ as king is a fact in the Bible The Old Testament looked forward to the coming of the King (Psa. 2:6-9) Jesus claimed to be the promised King (Jn. 18:33-37) The gospel is the gospel of the kingdom (Mk. 1:14-15; Col. 1:13) A kingdom is a realm of authority or rule The kingdom of Christ has to do with obedience to Him (Matt. 4:17)

Jesus Is Our Lord We are to yield to the lordship, or authority, which Christ has been given ( Col. 3:17) The lordship of Christ is at the very heart of the matter with respect to the gospel Lordship has to do with obedience (Lk. 6:46)

As Savior, Jesus expects us to be obedient As King, Jesus expects us to be obedient As Lord, Jesus expects us to be obedient

Is Jesus the Savior of those who do not obey Him? Is Jesus the King of those who do not obey Him? Is Jesus Lord of those who do not obey Him? No

Initial obedience to the gospel Continuing obedience in living as a Christian Obedience in individual matters Also in congregational matters All of these are necessary ingredients of our salvation

The church = the saved. The saved = the obedient (Heb. 5:9) The church = the citizens of the kingdom. The citizens of the kingdom = the obedient (Heb. 12:28- 29) The church = those who have accepted the lordship of Jesus Christ. Those who have accepted the lordship of Christ = the obedient (Acts 22:10)
