STORED ENERGY Wood is stored chemical energy until it is burned and the potential energy is released. A ball held above the ground has potential energy until the ball is released. When the ball falls, it is called gravitational potential energy (energy of position). Gravitational potential energy depends on weight and height. The heavier or higher an object is, the more gravitational potential energy there is. PE = mgh

ENERGY OF MOTION The faster an object is or the more mass an object has, the more kinetic energy it has. KE = ½ mv 2
