How does a Pendulum show that energy changes form?

You will be traveling to 7 different stations to read about and see examples of each of the forms of energy. At the station, please add the information to your notes and perform the demonstration as a group.

Mechanical Energy is energy of motion and potential. It is the total energy in an object.

Chemical energy is the energy stored in bonds between atoms. It is released when bonds are broken. Living things get energy from breaking the bonds between the atoms of food. This energy originated from the sun.

Electrical energy is the energy of moving electrons. It is a form of kinetic energy.

Nuclear energy is the energy that is released when the nuclei of atoms are changed. On Earth, we can split nuclei to release energy. This is called fission.

The sun is a HUGE FUSION nuclear reactor; Atomic nuclei are fused together. We CANNOT harness this process on Earth.

Thermal energy is the total kinetic energy of the atoms in an object. It depends upon the speed and number of atoms the object has.

Electromagnetic energy is the energy that is released into space; it travels in waves.

Light is a form of electromagnetic energy. It is formed by vibrations of electrically charged particles.

Sound is the energy of vibrating particles in or through a fluid.
