New Relationships for a New Age  A new relationship with Christ  Three viewpoints of this passage from page 1156, New Scofield Reference Bible 1. Jesus spoke to Mary acting as the High Priest, fulfilling the Day of Atonement – Lev Mary was gently rebuked by this command, which literally means “stop clinging to me.” 3. New Relationships for a New Age  This difficulty and apparent contradiction actually validate the reliability of the Gospel accounts.  Several passages help to clear this up – 2 Corinthians 5:16; 1 John 1:1-3. Best News Ever John 20:17-18

2 Corinthians 5:16 (ESV) 16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.

1 John 1:1-3 (ESV) 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we looked upon and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life 2 the life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us 3 that which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.
