4 th Project Meeting Lisbon, 10 th until 14 th of March 2014 IPAN Project Introduction to CAD/CAM Technology 1. Framing and Application 2. Geometry – General concepts Wireframe; Surfaces; Solid 3. Software Interface & Workspace – A simple Geometry creation (step by step) 4. Toolpath type – Overview 5. Machining – One single part (step by step) Workshop 2

4 th Project Meeting Lisbon, 10 th until 14 th of March 2014 IPAN Project E xercise E xample just take your notes Pratical work (do it your self) step by step (all together) Lets break some tools! M achining What does it means… Symbols

4 th Project Meeting Lisbon, 10 th until 14 th of March 2014 IPAN Project Workshop 2 – Introduction to CAD/CAM Technology

4 th Project Meeting Lisbon, 10 th until 14 th of March 2014 IPAN Project Workshop 2 – Introduction to CAD/CAM Technology

4 th Project Meeting Lisbon, 10 th until 14 th of March 2014 IPAN Project Workshop 2 – Introduction to CAD/CAM Technology 1.Computer monitoring and control (direct applications). Computer monitors the manufacturing process involving a direct interface with it for the purpose of observing the process and associated equipment and collecting data from the process. The control of the process remains in the hand of human operators. Computer process control controlling the manufacturing operations based on the observations collecting in the monitoring process. The computer issues signals directly to the manufacturing process based on the control algorithm contained in its software. 2.Manufacturing support applications (indirect applications); The computer is used in support the production operations, but there is no direct interface between the computer and the manufacturing process.  Numerical control part programming by computers.  Computer automated process planning.  Production scheduling.  Material requirements planning.  Shop floor control. Let's simplify

4 th Project Meeting Lisbon, 10 th until 14 th of March 2014 IPAN Project Workshop 2 – Introduction to CAD/CAM Technology If it existed, tries to imagine the shape of a computer mouse at 60 years ago? Restrictions/limitations in terms of manufacturing technologies the army and the aerospace industry demand more and more complex parts are the “motor" of technological development all objects we use in everyday life adapts to the physiology of the human body!!! Great flexibility of manufacturing technologies freedom in designing What is the most complex “object”? CAD CAM CNC Geometric Data NC Program Technological Data Human body
