A computer network is simply two or more computers connected together so they can exchange information. A small network can be as simple as two computers linked together by a single cable.

Two Networked Computers

Most networks use hubs to connect computers together. A large network may connect thousands of computers and other devices together.

A wireless network connects computers without a hub or network cables. Computers use radio communications to send data between each other.

If your computers are connected to a network, each computer can make its resources available to other computers in your office by sharing them over the network. Instead of working in isolation as you do on a single computer that is not linked to a network, you can work collectively, within a system that shares resources among a group of computer users.

If you already have access to the Internet from one computer on your network, you can share that Internet connection with other computers on the network. Then all the computers on your network can browse the Web at the same time, using this single Internet connection.

Even If you share your resources with other, still you can decide and choose what to make available to them.

You can save a file of information in one computer and allow other members of the network to share it. So, you do not need to send it to every one, also you do not need to save it in every computer.

Networks provide a very good communication between users. Through a network for instance, you can send , have free sound connection and play games.

it is a computer with special features to manage other computers in the networks. It has several duties and jobs as following: 1. manage sharing files and resources among other computers. 2. manage user accounts. 3. administrate networks users.

It is a user of a network which is administered by a server.

PEER TO PEER NETWORK And CLIENT / SERVER NETWORKS

In this kind of networks there is no server, so every computer can do server’s job. every user able to send and receive data and information and gain network utility.

The maximum number of client should not exceed ten users. All of the network users should be in the same area. usages of the network should not require high level of security. It is not suitable for extendable institutions.

Does not cost too much. Does not require additional software or hardware. Easy to set up.

Regular Back up. Secure data. Include many big amount of accounts. Reaching information is more easier because all information in the server.

Manage and control centralization. Reaching more resources and devices with high level of performance and security.

a set of computers that connect to each other in a small area.

It is more bigger than LAN and it may contain number of LAN. It usually sets up to cover a huge geographical area with a very good speed and services. However, it requires high costs and its maintenance is complex.

It covers a very huge geographical area. It connects cities and countries with very good speed and services. However, It requires high cost, maintenance and equipments.

It is the biggest Network in the world. It includes all kind of networks (LAN,MAN and WAN).

Computers that are connected together. Computers and devices are called nodes when connected to a network. The networking hardware that connects the computers together, including hardware installed in your computer, network cables, and devices that are connected Networking software that runs on each computer and enables it to communicate with other computers on the network
