“For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength” Nehemiah 8:10

Allow Jesus To Lead You Psalm 32:8-11 Sunday Morning by Pastor Fee Soliven Psalm 32:8-11 Sunday Morning September 20, 2015

Psalm 32:8-11 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. 9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.

10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him. 11 Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

The Lord is a loving heavenly Father who is never too busy to listen to us when we come to Him for guidance.

The source of the promise is almighty God “The Lord Jesus Christ”

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go”  Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go”

Psalm 48:14 “For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide Even to death.

Isaiah 58:11 “The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

The value of this promise depends upon the character of the One who made it!

The promise is Inclusive

 1. Instruction

John 17:13-19 13 But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.

2. Teaching

John 16:13-15 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

15 All things that the Father has are Mine 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”

3. Counsel

“I will counsel you with My eye upon you” Psalm 32:8 “I will counsel you with My eye upon you”

Ecclesiastes 6:10-12 10 Whatever one is, he has been named already, For it is known that he is man; And he cannot contend with Him who is mightier than he. 11 Since there are many things that increase vanity, How is man the better?

12 For who knows what is good for man in life, all the days of his vain life which he passes like a shadow? Who can tell a man what will happen after him under the sun?

Psalm 37:18-20 18 The LORD knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time, And in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. 20 But the wicked shall perish; And the enemies of the LORD, Like the splendor of the meadows, shall vanish. Into smoke they shall vanish away.

4. Protection

Psalm 145:20-21 20 The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.

The Lord Warns those who will Not Listen

Do Not be Stubborn

Psalm 32:9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, Which have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, Else they will not come near you.

“Many are the sorrows of the Wicked”

Psalm 32:10 10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.

God Blesses those who will Listen

Lovingkindness shall Surround Them

John 14:23-24 23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Fathers who sent Me.

John 14:23-24 (New Century Version) 23 Jesus answered, “If people love me, they will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Those who do not love me do not obey my teaching. This teaching that you hear is not really mine; it is from my Father, who sent me.

They will be Glad and Rejoice

Psalm 32:11 “Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous; And shout for joy, all you upright in heart”

Psalm 64:9-10 9 All men shall fear, And shall declare the work of God; For they shall wisely consider His doing. 10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and trust in Him. And all the upright in heart shall glory.

“For the Joy of the Lord is your Strength” Nehemiah 8:10
