Transfer Policy Policy

Background February 2009 Board adopted : Emergency Transfer Policy for IPv4 Addresses – Policy allowed transfers to designated recipients (based on need) – Policy included a 3 year sunset from implementation – Policy allowed Board to choose when to implement Board invoked a Special Policy Action of the PDP to revise prior to its implementation.

Board Special PDP Actions Allows for a Temporary creation, modification or suspension of policy Overall Process – Board declares emergency and posts policy change to PPML – AC reviews discussion and makes recommendation with 10 days to Board – If Board proceeds, it is presented at next Public Policy Meeting

History Board invoked Emergency PDP and posted to PPML for discussion – Discussion was extended thru the then upcoming ARIN Public Policy Meeting Presented in San Antonio – AC revised based on community feedback and recommended it to the Board for adoption Board adopted on 28 May 2009 Implemented on 1 June 2009

Implementation Net effect of implementation of : – Implementation of (needs based transfers to designated recipients) with these revisions: Specific requirement for the recipient to be within the ARIN region Removal of the 3 year policy sunset clause

The last part of the PDP Special Policy Actions require presentation at the next Public Policy Meeting after adoption. Comments/questions?
