DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics Spring Load Bolt The Spring Loaded Bolt should always be in the closed position when is not extended and when the desired length of tray is required. Closed Spring Loaded Bolt Open Spring Loaded Bolt The Spring Loaded Bolt should only be in the open position when the tray is being extended

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics 1. Operator to release the Spring Load Bolts from both the left and right side of the tray Purpose – to allow the tray to slide freely Risks involved – potential pinching to the hands and or damage to the equipment Opening the Tray

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics 2. Once the bolts are released the operator is to move to the rear of the tray and locate the bar above the number plate and begin to pull the tray apart Purpose – This is the centre of the tray and the weight is spread evenly Risks involved – operator can sustain a possible strain injury if not done correctly Opening the Tray

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics 3. Operator to pull the tray and use the locating holes as a guide to achieve the correct length. If the operator can not achieve this on their own a second is required for assistance. Purpose – the location of the holes indicates to the operator the length of the tray Risks involved – operator straining and causing injury. Over extending the tray. Opening the Tray

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics Opening the Tray 4. Operator to observe the flexible cable for the lights when open, checking the cable is not to low to the ground Purpose – to eliminate the cable becoming damaged in transit Risks involved – the electricals for the rear of the vehicle becoming disconnected leading to accidents and fines

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics Opening the Tray 5. Once the tray is at the desired length operator is to close the spring loaded bolts into the location holes on the extension. Purpose – by locking the bolt into place it will eliminate the tray over extending and moving during transportation Risks involved – the spring loaded bolt not been locked in place properly and tray over extends in transit and causes damage to property.

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics Closing the Tray 6. Operator to release the spring loaded bolts on either side of the tray to the open position Purpose – so the tray can slide freely Risks involved - potential pinching to the hands and or damage to the equipment

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics Closing the Tray 7. Operator to push the extension from the middle bar located above the number plate, until the extension is completely closed if unable to do alone to request assistance from another operator Purpose – pushing from the middle of the tray will disperse the weight evenly. If requiring assistance the second operator to push from either side Risks involved – Pushing the extension back in could cause a strain in the operator.

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd Responsibility Equals Accountability Dangerous Goods Logistics 8. Once the tray is back to the closed position operator need to close the spring loaded bolts Purpose – by locking the bolt into place it will eliminate the tray extending and moving during transportation Risks involved – the spring loaded bolt not been locked in place properly and tray extends in transit and causes damage to property. Closing the Tray

DGL (AUST) Pty Ltd 6/18/ Test your knowledge Through the following slides you will be asked an number of questions to show that you have understood the content of this learning tool Please record your answer on the training form F-260.
