The experience of the Technical University of Sofia in education about standardization Master degree program on Technical legislation, Standardization and Quality Management

The curriculum focuses on the natural extension over the specialized engineering education; designeddesigned for graduated the Bachelor or Master degree from all technical science; with preparatory trainingwith preparatory training for graduated in social, economic, legal and natural science the master degree program becomes more flexible. 4

Structure of the curriculum: 2 semesters with 6 subjects each (total 12) 3 course works and 1 course project, 6 subjects with lab. works, 4 – with seminars, Courses are based on 30 academic hours Subjects are balanced among: Technical legislation, Standardization, Conformity assessment, Product safety, Market surveillance, Metrology, Management systems 5

Course project at subject among: System for assessment of product safety, Quality control, Engineering and strategic quality management, Technical legislation in basic sectors/ Metrological assurance of quality, Standardized management systems/ Computer quality management Diploma project is developed together with companies and other stakeholders. 6

Professional Competence competencies Graduates in "Technical legislation, standardization and quality management" add to their basic engineering qualification competencies in an important for the society area - the free movement of products and competitiveness in the SEM. 7

Realization of graduates: Experts in state and municipal administration, Auditors of management systems at business and certification organizations, Consulting companies, Organizations for conformity assessment and market surveillance. 8

Research Research - in 2006 Research and Educational Laboratory "Standardization, Technical legislation and Conformity Assessment" at the TU of Sofia was established. PhD program “Standardization” The activity of the laboratory became a reason in 2010 Bulgarian agency for accreditation of universities to authorize TU Sofia to educate students in PhD program “Standardization”. Until now 5 PhD students were educated, in 2015 two of them became associate professors. 10

Postgraduate training - Postgraduate training in collaboration with TÜV Rheinland-Bulgaria Higher International School "Technical legislation and quality management“ was established for training experts certified by TÜV PersSERT Köln for the following types of personnel: Expert in Technical legislation and control for safety and quality – more than 1100; Representative for Quality management systems and Environment management systems – more than 800 experts from Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece; Auditor of Quality management systems and Environment management systems – more than 500 experts from Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece. 11

International activity Balkan conferences in “Standardization and Related Activities, a Means of Balkan Countries΄ Collaboration” established in 1997 with participation of Balkan counties. 12

Cooperation between TU - Sofia and Bulgarian Institute for Standardization Joint Information Center According to the Agreement for cooperation between the TU - Sofia and BIS in 2013 the Joint Information Center with free access to electronic fund of packages with Bulgarian standards was established first in Bulgaria the library of TU – Sofia. TU – Sofia participates with experts in 14 TC. 13
