 Set during the reign of King Arthur in Briton  A time when women only had power through men  The main characters excluding the narrator: The Queen, The Knight, and The Old Wife

 The Knight: Protagonist  Aggressive and arrogant  Selfish and Superficial  “My liege lady, generally, women desire to hae the sovereneighty as well upon their husband as their love, and to have mastery their man above”  “Take all my wealth and let my body go”

 The Queen: Antagonist  Powerful yet merciful  “I’ll grant you life if you can tell to me what thing it is that women most desire”  The Old Wife: Savior  Helpful and Wise  “Your life is safe; and I will stand thereby”
