Happy Pi Day!

 It’s the number you get by dividing the distance around the outside of a circle by its diameter. Not just any circle – Every circle!!! What is Pi?

 Pi (π) is an irrational number. It continues infinitely without repetition or pattern. The digits go on and on and on……  The first 200 hundred digits are: What is Pi?

 The number π is very useful when solving geometry problems involving circles. When Do We Use Pi? Area 2 A = πr 2

 The number π is very useful when solving geometry problems involving circles. When Do We Use Pi?

 The number π is very useful when solving geometry problems involving circles. When Do We Use Pi?

 A pair of Japanese and US computer whizzes, Shigeru Kondo and Alexander Yee, currently hold the record for calculating the most digits of pi – to five trillion decimal places.US  The pair used a desktop computer with 20 external hard disks that cost about $18,000 to build. It took 90 days to make their calculation. Interesting Facts About Pi

 Zero is the only digit that does not appear in the first 32 digits of pi.  The millionth digit of pi is 1.  William Jones first gave the Greek letter “π” its current mathematical definition in  The digit 7 occurs 7 times in the first 99 digits of pi!  The earliest known reference to pi is in a Middle Kingdom papyrus scroll, written around 1650 B.C. by the scribe Ahmes. Interesting Facts About Pi

 The current pi memory champion is a retired Japanese engineer Akira Haraguchi, who in 2006 recited 100,000 digits in front of witnesses in Tokyo. The event took nearly 17 hours.Tokyo  The current Guinness-record holder for memorized digits of pi is 70,000, and was achieved by Rajveer Meena (India) at the VIT University, Vellore, India, on 21 March Rajveer wore a blindfold throughout the entire recall, which took nearly 10 hours. How Many Digits Can You Memorize?
