Recording Your Script and Creating Your Podcast !!You are not finished until you have completed all steps on all of the slides up to and including Slide #15!!

If you have not recorded your script into your phone, then please go to Slide #3. If you have already recorded your script into your phone, then please go to Slide #4.

Recording Your Script 1)Find a quiet place to record. 2)Open up your phone’s recording app. 3)When recording, remember: Speak very clearly Enunciate Do not rush Read your entire script, word for word

Creating Your Podcast Step 1: Grab the cord with two green ends.

Creating Your Podcast Step 2: Plug the cord into the blue jack in the back of the computer, then to your phone.

Creating Your Podcast Step 3: Select “Mic In” Step 4: Make sure the volume on your phone is all the way up. Step 5: Open Audacity through programs by clicking on the Windows symbol in the bottom left hand corner of the computer screen. DO NOT OPEN AUDACITY THROUGH THE DESKTOP!!!

Creating Your Podcast Step 6: Hit “RECORD” on Audacity. (Red Button) Step 7: Hit “PLAY” on your phone. Your audio recording will appear as a waveform in the work area. Step 8: When completed, you must press the yellow “STOP” button in Audacity. “Record” Press First “Stop” Press When Done

Creating Your Podcast If you have completed Steps 1 through 8 correctly, then your work area should look something like this:

Creating Your Podcast Step 9: Save your podcast RIGHT NOW before doing anything else to it. To save: Save it as an Audacity project by going to the FILE dropdown menu and choosing Save Project As… Give it a name. Make sure it saves as an “aup” file. Drop it into your personal student folder.

Creating Your Podcast Step 10: Go back and listen to your podcast in Audacity. **VERY IMPORTANT: When opening your podcast you must access it by opening the Audacity program first, then clicking on FILE and going to your student folder. IT WILL NOT WORK IF YOU GO TO YOUR FOLDER WITHOUT GOING THROUGH AUDACITY!!!

Exporting Your File As An MP3 File Listen to your podcast to make sure it sounds exactly the way you want it to sound. YOU WON’T BE ABLE TO CHANGE IT AFTER THIS NEXT STEP!! To turn your file into an actual podcast, you will need to make it into an MP3. Here’s how you do it: Go to the FILE Dropdown Menu and choose EXPORT. In the box that says “File Name:” rename it using LAST NAME then FIRST NAME Example: Smith John In the box that says “Save as type:” you will scroll down to “MP3 Files” and select this. !!!!!!!DO NOT hit “Save” yet!! Go up to “Save in:” Scroll down to “Computer”, click on it and find the area where you normally save things at school. NOW SAVE IT.
