Minority Youth’s Pre-Detained Contextual Facts African American Latino youth are likely to be disproportionately: – Poor and/live in extreme poverty (3x) – Uninsured (1 in 8 AA and 1 in 6 Latino) – Reside in under resourced communities – Attend low achieving schools – Obese, uncontrolled asthma, early sexual experiences, and unmet mental health issues – Food insecurity Children’s Defense Fund (2011; 2012)
