Videos and resources Double Rainbow Guy: Phet color addition: There is no pink light: This is not a rainbow: Colorful Characters:

Color

 Color- A way humans perceive the frequency of light.

 Primary Colors- any set of three colors that can be combined to make white light (we use RGB)

 Secondary Colors- colors that are created when primary colors are combined (we use YCM)

 Complementary Colors- a set of two colors that can be combined to make white light

 Objects that appear a certain color are reflecting that color, and absorbing all other colors.

Rules for Color Addition Red + Green = Yellow Red + Blue = Magenta Green + Blue = Cyan Red + Blue + Green = White

Human Vision  Dreaming:  Describing Colors:  Is my red the same as your red?

Is your red the same as my red?

Yellow. Yellow. Yellow. Yellow photons make up pure yellow light. Yellow filters only let yellow through (they subtract everything else). Yellow papers only reflect yellow (they subtract everything else).

Example 1:  What color is found when you add red light to cyan light?  Answer: white light

Example 2:  What is found when you subtract magenta from white light?  Answer: green

Example 3:  Name two ways to create cyan light via addition and subtraction.  Answers:  Add green and blue  Subtract red from white

Example 4:  A magenta shirt absorbs _______ and reflects __________.  Answer: Green; Red and Blue

Blue Man Group and Spongebob Squarepants are complementary.
