Two Nations Theory – Definition and Explanation

Introduction Two Nations Theory is based on the philosophy that there were two nations in India i.e. Muslims and Hindus. Both had separate ways, goals and destinies.

Definition Muslim were a separate nation with their distinct culture, civilization, literature, history, religion and social values. Islam, the religion of the Muslims is based on the concept of Tauheed and could not be assimilated in any other system or religion.

Factors Leading to Two Nation Theory Socio-Cultural Differences Sir Syed Factor Hindi Urdu Controversy Separate Electorate Congress Rule 1937 to 1939

Views of Allama Iqbal “India is a continent of human beings belonging to different languages and professing different religions. To base a constitution on the conception of homogeneous India is to prepare her for civil war. I, therefore, demand formation of a consolidated Muslim state in the best interest of Muslims of India and Islam. The formation of a consolidated Muslim North – West Indian state appears to be the final destiny of the Muslims, at least of North West India.”

The Presidential Address at Allahabad 1930 “I would like to see Punjab, North West Frontier Province, Sindh and Balochistan amalgamated into a single state. Self govt within the British Empire or without the British Empire, the formation of a consolidated North West Indian Muslim state seems to me to be the final destiny of the Muslims at least “North West India”

Views of Quaid-i-Azam “The Muslims are a nation by every definition of the word nation. They have every right to establish their separate homeland. They can adopt any means to promote and protect their economic, social, political and cultural interests.” He further said “Pakistan was created the day the very first Indian national entered the fold of Islam.”

Aim And Objectives Of The Establishment Of Pakistan Enforcement of the sovereignty of Allah. Establishment of Democracy. Revival of muslim image and identity Protection of muslim culture and civilization Two nation theory. Emancipation from the prejudicial Hindu majority. Establishment of a balanced economic system.
