Repaso: Conditional

Conditional As you know, the conditional is used to tell what would happen or what someone would do in a given set of circumstances, and to say what someone would or would not like. Yo conseguiría un trabajo. Me gustaría trabajar en un hospital.

Conditional The regular conditional endings, added to the infinitive form of -ar, -er, and -ir verbs, are: dirigiríanUds., ellos, ellasdirigiríaUd., él, ella dirigiríaisvosotros(as)dirigiríastú dirigiríayo dirigiríamosnosotros(as)

Conditional The irregular stems in the conditional are the same as the irregular stems in the future tense: caber: cabr-querer: querr- decir: dir-saber: sab- haber: habr-salir: saldr- hacer: har-tener: tendr- poder: podr-valer: valdr- poner: pondr-venir: vendr-

Conditional The conditional is also used with the preterite of decir to express what someone said he or she would or would not do. Dijeron que vendrían a visitarme. They said that they would come to visit me.

Conditional The conditional can also be used to express the probability that something happened in the past. Serían las nueve cuando llegaron. It was probably nine when they arrived.
