WHO ARE YOU IN CHRIST?

A NEW IDENTITY: YOUR CALL

I. GOD HAS APPOINTED THE SHEPHERDS AS LEADERS.

Ephesians 4:11-12 “It was he who "gave gifts to people"; he appointed some to be apostles, others to be prophets, others to be evangelists, others to be pastors and teachers. He did this to prepare all God's people for the work of Christian service, in order to build up the body of Christ.”

II. BASED ON THIS TEACHING OF JESUS AS YOUR SHEPHERD I CALL ON YOU TO DO THREE THINGS:

A. COME TO A UNITY OF FAITH WITH ME.

Ephesians 4:13a “And so we shall all come together to that oneness in our faith,” Romans 12:4-5 “We have many parts in the one body, and all these parts have different functions. In the same way, though we are many, we are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined to each other as different parts of one body.”

B. STUDY GOD’S WORD SO THAT YOU MIGHT BE SPIRITUALLY MATURE. Eph. 13b-15 “and in our knowledge of the Son of God; we shall become mature people, reaching to the very height of Christ's full stature.

Then we shall no longer be children, carried by the waves and blown about by every shifting wind of the teaching of deceitful people, who lead others into error by the tricks they invent. Instead, by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head.”

C. SERVE JESUS IN YOUR MINISTRY SO THAT TOGETHER WE CAN MINISTER EFFECTIVELY TO OUR WORLD

Ephesians 4:16 “Under his control all the different parts of the body fit together, and the whole body is held together by every joint with which it is provided. So when each separate part works as it should, the whole body grows and builds itself up through love.”

Have you trusted Jesus as your Savior? Then today Jesus is here calling you to follow Him. What will your answer be to Him?

Will it be: Let me think about it. Can I bring along all my stuff? Where are you taking me? I still can’t believe you can use me to serve others! You’ve got to be kidding! I’ve already got my life planned! Let’s go! Wherever, whatever, whenever.
