Bell Ringer Why did people have more leisure time in the 1920s? In the cities, what did they do with this extra time?

●First movie theaters called Nickelodeons o During the 1920s, 60 to 100 million Americans went to the movies each week o Biggest output of movies in 1920s and 30s (800 films per year - today 500 is remarkable)

●The Big Five studios dominated the industry o Warner Bros. Paramount Radio-Keith-Orpheum (RKO) o Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM)Fox

●The Little Three (didn’t own their own theaters) o Columbia Universal United Artists
