New Parent Support Program Eligibility: Expecting a baby Have children under age three Planning to adopt a child under three Priority on active duty military families— (Other TRICARE beneficiaries on a space-available basis) Our registered nurses and social workers offer: Assessments Prenatal education/Postnatal education Information on a wide variety of topics Marriage/Family Counseling Parenting Classes Free books! Support *Baby Business Class Four session class meets Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Classes cover infant health care, infant/child CPR, postpartum depression, baby safety, car seat safety, parenting concerns and child growth and development. *Toddler Time and Baby & Me Weekly support/play groups for parents of children under age 3. (Baby & Me is for parents of infants 0 – 12 months.) Join us at the Youth Center for fun and friendship. Toddlers: 1:30-2:30 Infants: 11-12:00 **Playgroups offered September thru May* *Dads: the Basics (In a Nutshell) A class taught by dads for new and soon-to-be dads. Topics include pregnancy, coping with crying, ways to show you care, and more! *Parenting Young Children A class for parents of children under 6 years old. *Common Sense Parenting Class Four-week class for parents of children ages 6 through 17. *Parent Talk Monthly half-hour appointments with a child & parenting specialist for parents with concerns such as sibling rivalry, aggressive behavior, toilet learning problems, temper tantrums, family separations, and deployments. Emphasis on children ages 12 years and younger. (Available on base again in Jan 2010.) *Developmental Consultations For parents with children under age 5. Ask professionals in the areas of Child Development and Speech/Language Pathology about your child’s development and behavior. Includes discussions on developmental milestones/red flags in the areas of fine & gross motor skills, personal-social skills, speech & language development and hearing. Parent education and age appropriate stimulation activities will be provided and discussed. 2 nd & 4 th Thursdays, By Appointment Only *Infant Massage Class Four sessions for parents with children under 12 months old. Have fun with your baby while you learn techniques to calm and soothe your child. Strengthens bonding between parent and child. Nurturing touch stimulates your infant’s brain development *Rhythm Kids A joyful movement and music experience for parents and kids under 5 years old. Call for information, appointments, or to enroll *CLASSES OPEN TO ANYONE WITH ACCESS TO TINKER AFB SERVICES FOR PARENTS/EXPECTANT PARENTS SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS *Men’s Group Nine weekly sessions. This psycho- educational group explores behaviors which have led to incidents of domestic violence. Focuses on power and control issues and how they affect male-female relationships. *La Femina Five weekly sessions. This psycho- educational group emphasizes self-esteem, equality, and mutual respect as healthy alternatives to anger, jealousy, codependency and attempting to control others. This group offers women the chance to develop positive coping mechanisms to deal with dysfunctional emotions FASES (Family Advocacy Safety Education Seminar) 4-hour class offered monthly. Covers: Dynamics of Maltreatment & the Impact on a Family, Anger Management, Stress & Relaxation, Alcohol & Domestic Violence, Deployment Concerns, Relationship Safety, Communication, Parenting Strategies, Family Advocacy Program, and Community Resources. SERVICES FOR COUPLES FAST (Family Advocacy Strength Based Services) Marriage and family counseling for active duty members and their families. *PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program.) A class for couples to improve communication, learn problem solving as a team and start having fun together again.
