We’re preaching about Christ.

Christ’s Claim And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. (Luke 24:27)

Christ’s Claim Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me." (Luke 24:44)

Christ’s Claim You search the Scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! (John 5:39, NLT)

Paul’s Claim But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.(1 Cor. 1:23-24)

Paul’s Claim For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus' sake. (2 Cor. 4:5)

Lift up Jesus, you that teach the people, lift Him up in sermon, in song, in prayer. Let all your powers be directed to pointing souls, confused, bewildered lost, to “the Lamb of God.” Lift Him up, the risen Saviour, and say to all who hear, “Come to Him who hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us.”

Let the science of salvation be the burden of every sermon, the theme of every song. Let it be poured forth in every supplication. Bring nothing into your preaching to supplement Christ, the wisdom and power of God. (Gospel Workers, p. 160)
