The plays during the Elizabethan era were specifically written for the stages that they were performed on. William Shakespeare - ( ) the poet, playwright, dramatist, and actor.

- ONLY the times best actors would be in the productions held at the popular Shakespeare theatres. - Richard Burbage - one of Shakespeare’s top actors. Son to James Burbage.

The large scale theatres like the Amphitheatre's were constructed using the Greeks and Romans building structure. They were set outside and circular like a coliseum. The Amphitheatre’s were also used for other forms of leisure and entertainment, gaming and gambling, fencing, tournaments, sports, and bear or bull baiting.** **These are the reasons the Puritans disagreed with the theatres.

The Hope and the Globe theatres were very close in proximity. About one block away.
