Department for Work and Pensions 2 Purpose of the Report Establish the number of Benefit Claimants by Ward and age group. Review the current Provision in place to support these Claimant Groups To use the Data to enable informed decisions on Gaps in support and Provision

Department for Work and Pensions 3 The Breakdown of Benefit Claims In Croydon 53% of the people Claiming Benefit are Claiming Ill Health or Disability Benefits Another 22 % are either Carers of Adults or young children. These Benefit types are often the least engaged by Jobcentre Interventions within JCP offices. This means 75% of the people on benefits in Croydon are not required to regularly attend a Jobcentre for Job seeking support.
