The Father and His Household The Outcast

The Nature of God God is eternal – He is always the same Psalm 90:2, (before the mountains were brought forth or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God) God is sovereign – He is supreme and not under anyone Isaiah 45:5, (I am the Lord and there is none other beside Me ………) God is immutable – He is perfect and does not change James 1:17, (Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows)

How we see God and what we receive from Him is based on relationship. God seereceive relationship

Nature of the sin Rebellion  Revolted against God’s rule or His created order High treason  Criminal disloyalty to God (they sold God’s secret and asset to the devil) Contagious  It was pandemic (it contaminated all of humanity and God’s creation) Romans 8:19-23

Initiation Genesis 3:16-19 ( 16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.“ 17 To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.“)

Sacrifice 1 Adam lay with his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.“ 2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. 3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6 Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?). Genesis 4:1-6 AdamEve CainAbel Outcast

Types of Outcast Cain – first born child of disobedience Abel – first born child of obedience

Cain represents outcast …..  rebellious to God’s call  creative and intelligent with evil intention  Passionate evil doers Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother's were righteous. 1 John 3:12

Abel represents outcast ………  sacrificially give of their best  sincere religious pursuits  obedient to the call of God

Genesis 6:5-8

God’s patience The Lord saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. Genesis 6:5
