Transition to Common Core Initiated by the National Governors Association (NGA) and Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) with the following design principles: Result in College and Career Readiness Fewer, clearer, and higher Reduce variability Launched in two parts: Anchor standards college and career readiness in English Language Arts and Math Grade specific standards that lead students to the anchor standards
