Electric Current Do Now: How do you think a conveyor belt or a highway relates to electric current?

Flow of Electric Charge Look on page 46. Like the tomatoes, electric charges can be made to move in a confined path. Your appliances need a continuous flow of electricity to work. Electric current is the continuous flow of electric charges through a material.

The amount of charge that passes through the wire in a unit of time is the rate of electric current. Unit = ampere or amp or A To produce electric current, charges must flow continuously from one place to another. An electric circuit is a complete, unbroken path through which electric charges can flow.
