EVERY BELIEVER IS A PRIEST ➤ If you have trusted Jesus, you are a priest in the temple of God! ➤ If you have trusted Jesus, you are a stone in the temple of God! You yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood. -1 Peter 2:5a

WHAT IS A PRIEST? ➤ A priest is a mediator who stands between God and men. (Jesus is the High Priest). ➤ He/she brings God to people and people to God. Implication: You are the temple of God. Thus, the temple is everywhere you go. You have a priestly duty everywhere you go to bring Jesus to people and into situations. You have priestly duties.

THE ROLES OF PRIESTS Every Believer is a Priest

ROLES OF A PRIEST ➤ Sacrifice: Offer up Spiritual Sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ➤ Proclamation: Proclaim the greatness of God who saved you. …to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. -1 Peter 2:5b …proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. -1Peter 2:9b

OLD TESTAMENT ATONEMENT/SACRIFICE ➤ Role of the Sinner ➤ Lay his hand on the lamb representing the transference of sin onto the lamb. ➤ Slay the lamb. ➤ Role of the Priest ➤ Hold onto the lamb as the sinner slays. ➤ Sprinkle blood, burn meat, give some meat back for celebration.
