Types of Maps

Political ► Shows borders between cities, states, countries. ► These borders are not seen from space.

Physical ► Shows the earth’s natural (physical) features ► Ex. Mountains, oceans, rivers, valleys, deserts, etc.

Land Use Resource ► Shows how the land is used and the resources available on the land.

Topographic/Contour Map ► Shows elevation (how high or low) using contour lines.

Climate ► Shows the average temperature or precipitation for an area.
