Dieting & Fast Food Why is it a part of our culture?

True or False On any given day, half of the teenage girls in this country are dieting. By forth grade, two-thirds of the girls in the USA have reportedly gone on a “diet” because they think they are fat. One out of four children in the USA is overweight.

What is the Answer? What percent of normal weight women want to be thinner? 70% What percent of underweight women think they are overweight? 23% Often times people compare themselves to models. What is the average weight and height of a model in the USA? 5’11’’ tall and 111 pounds

Dieting Can Be Good… Diet for Good Health – – Make a Plan – Maintain a Healthy Weight – Diet Slowly ½ to 1 pound per week – Diet & Exercise go Together 60 – 90 minutes per day to sustain weight loss – Work with Your Doctor

When dieting Try… Go for “Low Fat, Low Calorie” alternatives. – DO NOT do a “No Fat, No Calorie” plan. – Read Food Labels. Try using a smaller plate when eating. – Watch your portion sizes. Avoid weighing yourself too much. Do not skip meals!!! – Eat six smaller meals per day!

Fad Diet Red Flags Very Low Calorie Diets (-800 Calories/Day) Eating Plans based on a Single Food. Fasting – Extremely Dangerous! Diet Pills – Could create Serious Health Issues Plans that promise Quick Weigh Loss –O–Over 2 pounds per week.

Other Things to Consider… Some methods simply don’t work – They are a FRAUD. Cost Limited Food Choices – Remember what your body NEEDS! Of those who do manage to loose weight on FAD Diets, approximately 95% gain the weight back!!!
