一分也不能少! A to B C to D E to F

Paper Weightings Paper 1 (Core) – 60% Paper 2 (Elective) – 20% Paper 3 (Coursework) – 20%

Multiple Choice Tactics(1) Spend around 1 minute for one question, no need to do too fast. Circle the question that you are not sure, go to the next question after 1 minute. (Never spend more than 2 minutes on the first round) Come back to the questions that you are not sure when you have spare time, you can spend any time comfortably now. (Don’t be nervous! You should have at least 10 minutes left!)

Multiple Choice Tactics(2) For questions you are quite confident, Look for the correct choice directly but you have to go through all the choices. Don’t assume the first choice is correct There may be other better choice than the one you choose at the beginning Only the best choice have mark.

Multiple Choice Tactics(3) For questions that you are not sure Do by elimination ( 逐個刪除法 ) Delete the choice that you think is incorrect You increase the rate of success by 25% by eliminating one answer The one left behind is the correct answer Only make a guess after the elimination process (50/50 is better than 1 in 4)

Conventional Questions Only Good and Complete answers can gain full marks Bad answers (may be correct) will not gain any marks (like single word answer) Answers must be specific to the question Vague or general answers are not acceptable (e.g. convenient)

Conventional Question Tactics(1) No need to answer the questions in order Quick Scan through the whole paper Answer the questions with confidence first

Conventional Question Tactics(2) Look at the question twice. Have a quick look to understand what the question is about at the first time. Look at the question very carefully at the second time. Underline the keyword in the question. Usually one important point score 1 mark

Conventional Question Tactics(3) Answer ALL questions and all parts Don’t miss any part even if you are not sure whether it is right or not ( 有殺錯冇放過 ) Any reasonable answers will gain marks Reasonable answers are very subjective, so don’t miss the chance to gain marks

Conventional Question Tactics(4) Use complete sentence or phrase to answer the question No Marks can be gained when you cannot express your idea clearly Use examples to make your point clear Marks will not be deducted due to wrong grammar, so there is no penalty to write more

Conventional Question Tactics(5) When asked to give 2 reasons, don’t just give one Nor don’t try to give 3, the third answer will be ignored, so it is a waste of time. If you can think of 3, put the most important one at first, then the second important one, don’t reverse the order. For one reason, it is not limited to one sentence, you may write 2 or more sentences to make your idea clear if necessary.

Conventional Question Tactics(6) When you forget the spelling of some keywords, e.g. encryption You can explain the idea by your own words, (like turn the words into secret codes) Wrong spelling of keyword will score no mark If you are not sure the spelling, still write the keyword and explain the idea as well. You still score the mark even the spelling is wrong. Remember you have enough time to do so.

Conventional Question Tactics(7) Check the answer you have written immediately to see whether the meaning is complete or not Make changes if necessary Correct any mistake at once (It is more difficult to pick up the errors at the end.)

Conventional Question Tactics(8) The time spent is roughly one minute per one mark (Don’t be nervous! You should have at least 15 minutes left!)

Conventional Question Tactics(9) Look at the questions again when you have spare time, don’t just look at the answers, you may miss some important points in the question Check for the correctness and completeness, refine your answers if you still have time

一分也不能少! Use elimination in multiple choice Answer all parts in Long Questions ( 有殺錯冇放過! ) Use complete sentence and explain your idea clearly ( 盡用時間,盡展所長 )
