Perseus’ Birth  Perseus was the son of Zues and Danae. Acrisius, Danae’s father, locked her and Perseus in a chest and threw them into the sea. Posidean guided them to the island of Seriphus, where Dictys found them. Polydectes was a brother of Dictys.

Perseus’ Childhood  Polydectes, king of Seriphus, fell in love with Danae and wanted to marry her but didn’t want or like Perseus. So Polydectes sent Perseus to bring back the head of Medusa.

Before the Journey  Before Perseus left, the Goddess, Athena, gave Perseus a bronze shield so that he could look at Medusa’s reflection without turning into stone and Hades’ Helm of Invisibility. Perseus next went to the God, Hermes. Hermes gave him a pair of winged sandals to fly to Medusa and back. He also gave Perseus a satchel to put Medusa’s head in.

The Slaughtering of Medusa Once Perseus found Medusa, he looked at her reflection in the bronze shield that Athena gave him. Perseus drew his sword and sliced off her head!

Perseus Returns  Perseus flew back to Seriphus right after he killed Medusa. Polydectes was surprised to see that Perseus was still alive, but he and his nobles did not believe Perseus had fulfilled his quest. Perseus immediately took Medusa’s head out from the bag. Everyone in the room stared at it and slowly turned to stone, including Polydectes. Perseus next went to Athena and gave Medusa’s head to her. Athena placed the head in the Centre of her Aegis. He also returned the weapons to Athena and the sandals to Hermes.

Perseus Accident  Perseus went to go see his grandfather, Acrisius, and went to go play “Frisbee” with him. He accidentally hit Acrisius in the head and killed him. Perseus inherited his grandfather’s throne and became King of Tiryns.

Perseus’ New City  Perseus did not want to be King of Tiryns, so he decided to give it to Acrisius’ son, Megapenthes. Perseus soon founded the city Mycenae. Mycenae became more powerful and more successful than Tiryns.

Perseus Family and Death  Perseus married Andromeda, daughter of King Cepheus, and had a son named Perses. Many years later he had a daughter, Gorgophone, and five more sons: Electryon, Alcaeus, Sthenelus, Mestor and Helius. When Perseus and Andromeda died, Athena placed them as constellations in the sky.

 Perseus didn’t fit into his ordinary world because of many reasons. First of all, Acrisius, Danae’s father, didn’t like her son, Perseus, because from the oracle, Perseus was supposed to kill him. Acrisius locked Danae and Perseus into a chest and threw them into the sea. Secondly, Polydectes eventually found Danae and Perseus. Polydectes refused to keep Perseus, so Polydectes sent Perseus to go kill Medusa, thinking he would die. The Ordinary World

 Perseus decided to take on the quest to go receive the head of Medusa. Call to Adventure

 Athena and Hermes were Allies or Mentors for Perseus’ quest. Athena gave him a bronze shield to look at Medusa’s reflection, so that he wouldn’t turn to stone, a sword to slice her head off, and Hades’ Helm of Invisibility. Hermes gave Perseus sandals with wings on them to be able to fly to Medusa and back. Allies/ Mentors

 Perseus becomes more responsible and thinks about his actions before doing his actions. He gets the option to become king of a major city too. Transformation

 When Perseus returns, he does return to everyday life. He makes his own city that becomes more powerful and more successful than the city that he was supposed to inherit. The Return

 Perseus returns back with treasure. The treasure is Medusa’s head and it benefits the world because Medusa can’t harm anyone on her account. The Elixir
