Conservation of Energy

The Law of Conservation of Energy: energy cannot be created or destroyed only transferred or transformed. The total amount of energy is the same before and after transformation.

Whenever a moving object experiences friction some of its kinetic energy is transformed to thermal energy. Einstein realized that the law of conservation of energy and the law of mass conservation (a law that states matter cannot be created or destroyed) are related. He then combined them into the law of energy mass conservation which is one of the first laws of thermodynamics (Hakim).
