BY: KIRSTIN PARKS Alfred Stieglitz

Information about Alfred Alfred was a 20 th century photographer. His own photographs and ideas had a big influence on other photographers, artists and writers. Such as Paul Strand, Charles Sheeler and his wife at the time, Georgia O’Keefe. People were given an opportunity to see some of his lesser- known photographs. His portraits are made up of many of the key figures in his life and the art world of the time. He favored a different approach to his work, he made platinum prints. Which is a process that gave images a rich tone.

To achieve the platinum prints he used natural elements. Such as rain, snow, and steam to make the photo complete. He had a gallery, which was named ‘291’ for its address on Fifth Avenue. Around 1917, he began to think about photography differently. In his later life, he took more photos from the window of his gallery. His final photographs showed the various stages of photography development. He was known as one of the most significant American photographers.
