Job Shadowing For Seniors And Second Semester Juniors
Background The Harnett County Business Education Partnership has formed a coalition with area businesses, industries, and Harnett County Schools to give all seniors and second semester juniors the opportunity to job shadow.
What is Shadowing? A short-term, ½ day to one day, educational experience to visit a business or industry to observe tasks and activities of a specific occupation. An opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of an occupation in which you have an interest. A practical and useful way for you to begin planning for the future.
Purposes Develop an awareness of the education, training, and skills required in a specific occupation. Become familiar with the environment associated with a specific occupation. Identify the job related characteristics required of specific careers.
Purposes cont. Determine the degree of interest in an identified occupation. Observe the job responsibilities of a person in your chosen profession.
Advantages First-hand experience in a job setting related to your career interests. Increased motivation to excel in school. Developing confidence in communicating with adults. Improved self-image. Making better career decisions.
