Page 1 of 8 Stanford Continuing Studies CS 38 ·Hands-on Graphics Production for the Web Week Five EXERCISE 2: ANIMATION 1) Launch Fireworks. 2) Open blackbackground-stanford.gif and select it using the Pointer Tool.

Page 2 of 8 3) Under Modify, choose Animation, then Animate Selection. 4) Choose the number of frames, the movement, the direction, the scaling, the opacity, and the rotation desired. For this exercise, choose as listed, then click OK. Click OK at the warning message.

Page 3 of 8 5) Open the Frames and Windows window. Choose No Looping. 6) In the Preview tab, click the Play/Stop button to preview the animation. Although you have selected No Looping, it is likely that the animation will loop -- don’t be concerned; it’s a known issue with Fireworks.

Page 4 of 8 7) Under File, choose Export Wizard. Click Select an export format, then Continue. Choose Animated GIF, then click Continue.

Page 5 of 8 8) Click the Animation tab.

Page 6 of 8 9) Make sure that the animation is set to only run once and not loop. If you desire, you may click on any of the frames to see what the animation looks like frame-by-frame.

Page 7 of 8 10) Click Export. 11) Make sure the Save in field is set to your floppy disk. 12) In the File name field, enter animated-blackbackground-stanford.gif 13) Click Save.

Page 8 of 8 14) Launch Dreamweaver. 15) Open one of your web pages. 16) Under Insert, choose Image. 17) Locate animated-blackbackground-stanford.gif, then click OK. 18) Save the web page. Then view the web page in Internet Explorer and/or Netscape.
