11-4 Angle Measures and Segment Lengths Learning Target: I can find angle measures and segment lengths. Goal 2.03

A secant is a line that intersects a circle at two points.

The measure of an angle formed by two lines that 1. intersect inside a circle is half the sum of the measure of the intercepted arcs. m<1= (x+y) 2. intersect outside a circle is half the difference of the measure of the intercepted arcs. m<1= (x-y) 1 _ 2 1 _ x0x0 y0y0 x0x0 y0y0 x0x0 x0x0 y0y0 y0y0

Theorem For a given point and circle, the product of the lengths of the two segments from the point to the circle is constant along any line through the point and circle. a. a*b=c*db. (w+x)w=(y+z)y c. (y+z)y=t 2 a d c b t z y x z w y
