advanced Coll. Meeting – Cascina, Sept 11th, 2007 G.Losurdo – INFN Firenze/Urbino 1 SUPERATTENUATOR - IP BASELINE: VIRGO DESIGN with STIFFER IP LEGS TILTMETER AND IP 6 DOF CONTROL ALTERNATIVE OPTION: VIRGO CONFIGURATION: if major problems arise in the realization of the tiltmeter or of the tilt actuation

advanced Coll. Meeting – Cascina, Sept 11th, 2007 G.Losurdo – INFN Firenze/Urbino 2 SUPERATTENUATOR - PAYLOAD BASELINE: MECHANICS: NEW MARIONETTE REFERENCE MASS (R&D RM/PI): it would simplify greatly the design, allowing F7 legs removal and installation of clean air flow. MIRROR ACTUATION: COIL-MAGNET PAIRS ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS: STANDARD F7-MARIONETTE ELECTROSTATIC ACTUATORS (R&D NA): noise specs to be demonstrated

advanced Coll. Meeting – Cascina, Sept 11th, 2007 G.Losurdo – INFN Firenze/Urbino 3 SUPERATTENUATOR - WARNINGS  Having already an advanced vibration isolator should allow us to recover some time with respect to ADV LIGO, but…  Some important upgrades of the SA are foreseen (IP, tiltmeters, MRM, RM, monolithic payload, probably electrostatic actuators)‏  During CITF commissioning a large amount of time was needed for the SA pre-commissioning. This must not happen again in AdV It is important to test the solutions proposed well in advance

advanced Coll. Meeting – Cascina, Sept 11th, 2007 G.Losurdo – INFN Firenze/Urbino 4 SUSPENSIONS BASELINE: FUSED SILICA CYLINDRICAL FIBERS ALTERNATIVE OPTION: FUSED SILICA RIBBONS (R&D Glasgow)‏

advanced Coll. Meeting – Cascina, Sept 11th, 2007 G.Losurdo – INFN Firenze/Urbino 5 IMPORTANT DELIVERABLES  SR SA  Short SA upgrade  IP design  Tiltmeter  MRM design  New RM design  Monolithic suspension  Actuators
