THE POWER OF LISTENING TO GOD’S WHISPER

First statement by God. “Elijah, what are you doing HERE?”

First response by Elijah (Verse 14) “I have been very zealous for the Lord God of Hosts," he replied, "but the Israelites have abandoned Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they're looking for me to take my life."

Notice that this is the same response as before the whisper! (Verse 10)

Second statement by God. The Lord told Elijah to anoint Hazael over Syria, anoint Jehu over Israel and Elisha to take his place. God informed him that no one would escape punishment through these leaders. He also informed Elijah that there were over 7,000 in Israel who were faithful followers of Him.

Second response by Elijah. He did everything that God asked him to do and every word of the Lord was fulfilled.

I. IF YOU HAVE GIVEN UP ON GOD USING US THEN YOU AREN’T LISTENING TO THE WHISPER OF GOD.

II. HOW DO WE LISTEN TO THE WHISPER OF GOD? Psalm 46:10 “"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

III. NO ONE OR NOTHING CAN DEFEAT THE WHISPER OF GOD.
