Specialised Psychiatric medical care /03/2016Specialised psychiatric care In 2012, 39,943 inpatient treatment periods for 27,738 patients were recorded under psychiatric specialised medical care. A total of 157,135 patients, who made nearly 1.8 million outpatient visits, were treated in psychiatric specialised medical care. Men and women were equally represented among patients overall, although there were variations in gender distribution by age and diagnosis group. 8,211 patients (32%) spent days in involuntary care during hospitalisation in % of all patients, were admitted based on an involuntary care referral (M1 referral). Since 2006, the number of patients admitted based on an M1 referral has decreased by 26%.
