Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse

Lesson Goals Intro to plagues for science class A fun way to lead into a discussion of Viruses, Bacteria and other organisms and how they impact our lives Goal is to study previous plagues and the difference between a epidemic and a pandemic

The world is over, now what? The government is gone No Cellphones or internet (gasp) Breakdown of distribution networks Limited supply of medicine Limited weapons

How do you prepare? As with any disaster you must prepare Preparation starts now! Food and water prep and storage are key Camping supplies and other disaster supplies are what you want. Have a meeting place Have a surplus of medical supplies Know where you are going Have good transportation Know the warning signs!

Could you Have seen it coming? Be aware of the news at all times! Watch for stories of manhunts in wooded areas Watch for stories of bite victims Avoid mainstream news The truth will not come out until its too late Don’t wait to leave!

How do you survive? Avoid populated areas Avoid public facilities Avoid large roads Stay out of sight Move during the day Do not get bit, there is no cure!

How do you fight? Aim for the head! Guns are loud, only use if you have to! Melee weapons are effective Keep your distance Remain Aware

What is a zombie? Symptoms – Hr 1: pain and discoloration of the infected area – Hr 5: fever degrees – Hr 8: numbing of limbs – Hr 11: paralysis of lower body – Hr 16: coma – Hr 20: Heart stoppage, death – Hr 23: reanimation Solanum- origin virus of the most common type of zombie Rage Virus- origin of the fast zombie Transference – Bites – Direct Fluid Contact – Undead flesh is toxic

How do you kill a zombie? Destruction of the Prefrontal Cortex is the only way Dismemberment will incapacitate but not kill. Even a severed head is dangerous! Fire is too slow, and automatic weapons lack accuracy without training

How do Zombies Spread?

The end of law The government will collapse Other survivors will be just as dangerous There will be no help coming Dissent in the survivors will be a problem

Weapons and how they kill you Good weapons – Crowbars – Rifles with scopes – Rock Hammers – Axes – Iron Rebar – Katana Bad weapons – Fully Automatic weapons – Chain saws (Dawn of the Dead) – Fire – Explosives
