Presentation transcript:

Last Lent we asked you to share the blessing of clean water with everyone.

Schools and young people from all over England and Wales pulled out all the stops during Lent to help bring clean water to communities around the world.

You have raised a record amount for our Lenten fundraising appeal. The total is £9.4 million which has been boosted by Match Funding from the Government!

Helping over 30,000 people have access to clean water in South Sudan.

Helping more than 25,000 people manage sustainable water associations in Kenya.

Expanding CAFOD’s women’s empowerment programme in Ethiopia to reach more than 8,000 women.

“The level of support we have had this Lent has been overwhelming. Our parishes and schools are making such a huge effort to help those in the world who have the least.” Chris Bain Director of CAFOD

Justine Greening Secretary of State for International Development “The record-breaking response to this year’s appeal... will allow CAFOD to double its impact working to improve water access, sanitation and hygiene for some of the world's most vulnerable and neglected people, including those affected by war, climate change and disease. “

Let us pray together For the journey of Lent, and the chance to learn and reflect about our global brothers and sisters, we say thank you, Lord! For our generous friends, families and community, we say thank you, Lord! For the inspiration and courage to hope for a better world, we say thank you, Lord! For the opportunity to provide safe drinking water for others, we say thank you, Lord!

I want to say thank you for our water. I like having water nearby because it makes me happy. So thank you from me and everyone else in my village.
