3 Melting & Boiling Point Melting Point: 234.22 K (-38.833°C or - 37.89°F) Boiling Point: 629.88K (356.73°C or 674.11°F)

4 History Mercury was discovered by the Chinese all the way back to 1500BC. It was thought to prolong life. The first emperor of China took it in small pills but the mercury soon made him crazy.

5 Common uses Mercury is used in thermometers and streetlights, it is also used in many different science experiments.

6 Advanced Uses Mercury can form alloys with some valuable metals like gold, silver, and zinc. These alloys can be used to extract these valuable metals

7 Mercury Mercury can be combined with Chloride to create Murcurous Chloride which is a very poisonous salt. It can also be combined with Sulfate to create Mercuric Sulfate which is a red paint pigment called vermillion. Another thing Mercury can be combined with is oxide which is used to make Mercury batteries.

8 Poisonous? Mercury is very poisonous it can enter your body through the digestive tract, respiratory tract, or directly through the skin.
